Hello again, Newgrounds!
I thought of giving a small update regarding my Video Game Music Portfolio Vol. I and talk about what I've learned during the process so far. First, a preview of the songs:
AMBIENT / CASUAL
Streets of Köttai (Town Theme)
Life in the Countryside (Town Theme)
What Comes Next (Stage Select Theme)
EPIC / CINEMATIC
The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall (Boss Battle Theme)
Those are the first tracks I composed for the project. Something between 6 months to 1-year studying music. At this point (after 1 and a half year of study), I know I could expand the instrumentation and add some counter-melodies to pretty much all of those, despite still being happy with the melodies, but I decided to call them finished and move forward.
On the other hand, I'm going to rework some of the compositions (the ones I think it has the most potential / haven't been posted here yet) in the near future, so you guys can expect something around 9 to 11 tracks.
On a personal note, I came to the conclusion that composing a soundtrack can be really tough. Especially if you try to learn everything all by yourself and/or don't know a more experienced composer that you can talk to.
That being said, I would LOVE to know how the amazing musicians here on Newgrounds work. What techniques do you guys use? Do you write the melody first? Chord progression first? After writing the basic idea, how do you expand the arrangement?
You know, things like that, since I ALWAYS GET STUCK IN SECTION A. :(
Anyways, that's it for now. Thank you for reading this.
